PLAY  TIME

Play Time began just after World War II. Our father, like so many others after the war, dreamt of building something lasting. He opened a small toy shop in Arlington Center, back when there were hardly any consumer goods to be found. People lined up for the basics, and if you had gimp in stock, you were a hero. Our parents were a good team. Together, they grew the business into what it is today, moving into our current location and expanding the crafts and art materials departments. The timing was right, and they poured their energy into serving the community as it grew alongside them.

 

Over the years, we’ve built something that matters: a store where generations of families come not just to shop, but to connect. We’ve watched kids become parents, and parents become grandparents, all walking through our aisles. What’s kept us going is the relationships, the feeling of belonging, and the joy of helping someone find that one little thing they didn’t even know they needed.
